About me
Experienced and successful ELT course book writer and materials designer. I specialise in materials for primary and pre-primary, but I enjoy writing for all levels and ages!
Hello! I’m Eloise. I have been working in the EFL industry for nearly twenty years and I am a coursebook writer and teacher trainer.
I was the YL coordinator for two years at the British Council in Mexico and it was during this time that I came to learn more about CLIL (content and language integrated learning) and designed a soft CLIL programme for higher level primary-aged language learners at the centre. I realised how rewarding and fun teaching English through other subjects could be. I felt that CLIL gave students more opportunity to use higher order thinking skills, work on projects and prepare themselves for later study as now so many universities use English as the medium of instruction.
In 2011, I became more heavily involved in writing materials for publication after being asked to write a CLIL science book for 1st and 2nd grade students in bilingual schools for OUP. Since then, I have written dozens of EFL coursebooks as well as online materials, phonics materials, young learner exams and many other things.
I have:
- 10 years’ experience writing published EFL materials
- More than 10 years’ teacher training experience including being a Trinity Certificate, Diploma and TYLEC (Trinity Young Learner Extension Certificate) trainer. I have also given talks and run workshops at conferences.
- More than 10 years’ experience using CLIL methodology to teach English (and write materials) and more recently I have started helping subject teachers in bilingual schools integrate language more effectively into their subject classes.
